The Kintyre is a new design of ‘long’ practice chanter developed by Stuart McCallum and Willie McCallum. It has a beautiful, clear tone and the sound lasts much longer as a result of the innovative water trap incorporated in the top piece. If emptied on a regular basis, it will give hours of uninterrupted practice. Wille McCallum describes it as ‘the only long practice chanter I have played that feels like a pipe chanter’, thereby making the transition much easier.
It is modelled on the McCallum Solo Chanter, which is very helpful for owners of that model. However, the user testing group for the chanter found the same advantages even though they play a different pipe chanter.
Its unique hole design is a huge step forward in improving finger-work, an advantage used by Willie in securing his 9th Glenfiddich Championship in October 2022.
