Established in 1986, Bersla Trading is a proudly family-owned business, operated by accomplished bagpiper Barry Gray and his wife Liz Gray, a talented tenor drummer. Based in Sydney, we’ve been serving pipers and drummers across Australia and beyond for over 35 years.
With more than 50 years of piping experience, Barry has performed and competed at the highest levels internationally. His career highlights include playing in Grade 1 at the World Pipe Band Championships with Dysart & Dundonald (1986, 1992), and leading the City of Blacktown Pipe Band as Pipe Major at the Worlds in 1992, 1995, 1998, and 2006. New Zealand Police in 2007 and Fife Constabulary in 2011.
In 1992, Barry led City of Blacktown No. 2 (Grade 4) to a second-place finish at the World Championships.
Barry is more than a competitor—he’s a passionate teacher and mentor. He led the Hawkesbury Nepean Valley Novice Juvenile Pipe Band to a 6th place finish at the European Championships and 10th at the Worlds in 2010. Beyond the pipe band world, Barry has appeared in three Australian feature films as a bagpiper, and performed or recorded with artists such as Sir Paul McCartney, Robbie Williams, Byran Adams, John Farnham, André Rieu, Jimmy Barnes, Delta Goodrem, and the Battlefield Band to name but a few..
